President Lehner has been discussing with an ad hoc committee that Convocation activities will focus on accreditation, employee participation in deciding on the year’s “action plan” and technology workshops.

President Lehner is working with the committee to expand days and activities for Convocation, which takes place the week of August 20. Many of the activities are still in the planning stage, President Lehner emphasized.

The Tuesday, Aug. 21 session will feature voluntary technology workshops for employees.

Wednesday is being considered as a day to work on program learning outcomes and assessment as well as a time to understand and develop the tools for the College to transition to a two-year assessment cycle (See article below.)

Thursday will present a Convocation session where President Lehner addresses the College and employees are recognized for years of service and other awards. President Lehner said she will also provide an opportunity for every employee to have the opportunity to participate in the annual planning process for CR. She envisions a large general session which will then break out into smaller groups to prioritize the 2012-13 CR “action plan.”

“Everyone will have an opportunity to express their opinion on what goals and objectives the College should follow this year,” President Lehner said. “The CR Strategic Plan, Education Master Plan, and Technology Plan, along with others, have lots of objectives and goals. But we can’t do them all in one year. I want to give all employees an opportunity to have input shaping the direction of the college for this school year.”

Friday will include an introduction to the revised program review template that will be designed to better incorporate assessment and planning. There will also be ample time for department and division meetings as in past years.
