Math and Science Core Course Schedule

In the tables that follow, the Mathematics, Science, and Engineering (MSE) division details a proposed two-year plan for scheduling what the division calls "core" math and science classes. These classes are typically offered in only one or two sections and correspond to classes needed by students majoring in the fields of biology, science, chemistry, physics, engineering, and mathematics.

The MSE division tries to schedule core classes to avoid conflicts, a difficult process to say the least. Therefore, when this two-year schedule is finalized, it will represent a commitment on the part of the MSE division to try to offer these courses at these days and times during the school years 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. This will provide an opportunity for math, science, and engineering students to plan out their course sequences in advance. However, note that it is always possible that staffing or enrollment issues may require some changes in the schedule.

Changes:

Version 6:
- Engineering 35 has been deleted from Fall 2008 and Fall 2009, and added to Spring 2009. Engineering 18 has been added to Spring 2010. The normal schedule, with Engr 35 in Fall and Engr 18 in Spring, will resume in 2010-11.
Version 5:
- Bio 3 in Spring has been moved from the morning to the afternoon.
Version 4:
- Math 50C in Fall 2008 has been moved to MWF.
- Math 55 in Spring 2009 has been moved to MWF.
- Math 50C has been added to the Fall 2009 schedule.
Version 3:
- Physics 4A, 4B, and 4C have been rearranged for the next two years (2008-10). In particular, Physics 4A will be offered in Fall 2008, followed by Physics 4B in Spring 2009, Physics 4C in Fall 2009, and Physics 4A in Spring 2010. The normal two-year physics rotation will then resume in Fall 2010 (see the 2010-12 details near the bottom of the page).
- The spring Math 50A course has been moved back to MWF 11:30.
Version 2:
- Chem 1B has been added to the Spring schedules.
