Arranging for a proctor

All exams must be taken in the presence of a designated and approved proctor. The following guidelines must be followed. All questions regarding proctors should be directed to the instructor.

If none of the above options will work for you, then you must make arrangements for an exam proctor by contacting an official whose current occupation is in one of the categories listed below. Those typically approved as proctors include:0

No relative or immediate work supervisor may proctor an examination.

Also, please note the following:

  1. The exams for the course are taken over the World Wide Web. Thus, you will need to use a computer at your proctor's place of business and under your proctor's supervision, with a web browser connected to the internet. The browser should be a fairly recent version (for details, see the online testing page). Dates are somewhat flexible, according to the Detailed Schedule for Math 25.
  2. You may not use your own computer or a computer in your own home for proctored exams.
  3. Your proctor must have an email address at his or her place of business. You must provide this email address to the instructor (see below).
  4. You must use the same exam proctor for each of the exams in the course. When making arrangements with a proctor, make sure that they are able to supervise all the exams required for the course. If you cannot arrange this, you will have to obtain special permission from the instructor for using more than one proctor.

Once you have arranged to take the exams with a proctor, you must contact your instructor via email and provide the following information:

Your instructor will then send you an email confirming receipt of the proctor information, and send detailed proctoring instructions to your proctor via email. Once your proctor receives these instructions, you may then take online exams at any time.

Notes
:

  1. Be sure to send the proctor information to your instructor several days before you want to take your first exam. This will help to guard against any possible difficulties that may arise with email communication, computer and network setups, etc.
  2. Proctored exams must be taken at the convenience of the proctor, not the student! You must be sure to arrange testing appointments with your proctor in advance, and schedule your exams in accordance with your proctor's schedule.
